Did you know creating generational change in therapy is possible? This kind of change is possible when you heal from trauma, because true trauma therapy changes how you respond to the world.

Creating Generational Change: Why I Love My Job

Did you know creating generational change in therapy is possible? You know the kind of change that turns your life around. This kind of change is possible when you heal from trauma because true trauma therapy changes how you respond to the world. That changes everything–how you feel about yourself, your relationships, how you parent….
I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on what I love most about my job and the incredible work we do at Hope for the Journey. It’s not just a job for me; it’s a passion, a calling, and an ever-evolving journey. And I think my absolute favorite aspect is how we get to be guides and empower people to create generational change. Let me tell you more about what that means and why it’s so important.

What is Generational Change?

Generational change is the transformative process that goes beyond an individual’s immediate circumstances. It’s about making lasting changes that extend through families, communities, and even into future generations. When our clients go through this change, it’s not just a temporary fix or a momentary shift. It’s profound, enduring, and far-reaching.

The Ripple Effect

One of the most amazing things we witness at is the ripple effect. When our clients make significant changes in their lives, those changes don’t stay confined to just them. They start to impact the people around them – family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers. It’s like throwing a stone into a pond and watching the ripples spread outwards.
Our clients’ transformations often inspire those around them to start their own journeys of change. Whether it’s caring for loved ones in new, healthier ways, influencing their workplace culture positively, or creating innovative businesses as entrepreneurs, the impact is wide-reaching and profound.

Our Own Journey as Therapists

To be quite honest, the change we witness isn’t just limited to our clients. As therapists, we’re continually working on ourselves too. The growth and transformation we facilitate in our clients often mirror our own journeys. We learn, grow, and evolve alongside them. This shared path of development makes our work incredibly fulfilling and keeps us grounded in empathy and understanding.

Why It Matters

Seeing these changes unfold is exciting and powerful. It’s meaningful to witness someone breaking free from past patterns, overcoming challenges, and stepping into a brighter future. It’s even more rewarding knowing that these changes will benefit not just the individual, but their entire network and future generations.
The work we do at Hope for the Journey isn’t just about helping people in the here and now. It’s about creating a legacy of positive change that will echo through time. And being a part of that – helping to guide and empower people on this journey – is something truly special.
