When your teen is hurting, it can feel impossible to know what to do.
You're doing everything you can… but nothing quite feels like enough. You just want them to feel safe, connected, and like themselves again.
That's where we come in. We help teens move from overwhelm and shutdown into confidence, connection, and a sense of stability — whether they're dealing with trauma, anxiety, big emotions, or changes that feel too big to handle alone.
What parents tell us on the first call
My teen spends all their time alone and I can't reach them.
I'm scared for their future and don't know how to help.
You're not alone, and your teen isn't “too much.” They're overwhelmed — and they need support that actually works.
What changes for your teen
Counseling with purpose — not endless therapy.
A steady place to sort through big feelings, build confidence, and learn how to stay grounded when life gets overwhelming. Over time, teens who work with us:
Understand what they're feeling — and why
Naming what's happening inside is the first thing that makes it smaller.
Build coping skills that stick
Grounding tools they'll actually use at school, at 2 a.m., and with friends.
Reduce anxiety and emotional outbursts
Fewer meltdowns and shutdowns; more room to breathe at home.
Heal from trauma in a way that feels safe
EMDR lets the brain file painful experiences without rehashing every detail.
Strengthen relationships with family and friends
Better communication, and repair when things go sideways.
Feel more like themselves again
Confidence, healthier relationships, and a sense of direction.
Most teens meet weekly. Some do the same work in a few focused days as an EMDR intensive — see both options.
Questions parents ask
The things you're wondering at 11 p.m.
Anything we haven't answered? Call 512-400-4790 — you'll talk to Nia, not a phone tree.
Most do — once they realize this isn't a lecture. Our therapists are used to teens who arrive with arms crossed. And many teens prefer EMDR, grounding tools, or creative approaches that don't require nonstop talking.
You'll know how therapy is going, what we're working on, and anything that touches your teen's safety — always. What your teen says in the room stays mostly private, because that privacy is what makes them willing to talk. We'll walk you through exactly where the line is before the first session. Sometimes. Parents are a huge part of the healing process — we keep you updated, supported, and involved in ways that help your teen, not overwhelm them. Expect a parent check-in early on and periodic family sessions as they help.
This isn't endless therapy. Most teens start weekly; as they feel more grounded you'll notice real shifts — better communication, fewer meltdowns, healthier coping. Your therapist will talk with you about progress and a plan, not just book the next slot.
Yes. EMDR is structured and gentle, and helps the brain process painful experiences so they stop popping up uninvited. Teens often appreciate that it's straightforward and doesn't require tons of talking. Parents appreciate that it works.
Trauma shows up differently for teens — sometimes as anger, withdrawal, perfectionism, or “I'm fine” on the outside. EMDR helps with all sorts of issues, from feeling insecure or anxious to the fallout of abuse and neglect.
Consent & custody
Who can say yes to therapy for a teen in Texas?
In Texas, parents or legal guardians consent to counseling for a minor. Before your teen's first session we'll ask you to sign a consent form and, for parents who are divorced or separated, to share the part of your custody order that covers medical and mental-health decisions.
If you and your co-parent disagree, or you're not sure what your order says, tell us on the first call. We deal with this every week and we'll help you sort out what's needed — without your teen waiting in limbo.
Bring or upload the custody order pages that cover health decisions
Both parents are welcome at the parent check-in
We'll tell you plainly what we can and can't share with each parent

As they feel more grounded you'll notice real shifts — better communication, fewer meltdowns, healthier coping, and more confidence.
We're a nonprofit, so cost shouldn't be the reason your teen waits. Sliding-scale spots with licensed clinicians and supervised residents are part of how we work.
