EMDR Intensives in Austin, Round Rock & Online: Work Smarter; Not Harder
Life-changing results in days, not months. One week of EMDR intensive can equal a year of weekly sessions — with a licensed EMDR therapist, a safety assessment, and a clear plan.
A regular session gives you fifty minutes, then a week off — start, stop, start again. An intensive gives you longer, uninterrupted time with your therapist, so you can get past the surface and stay there long enough for real change.
We combine EMDR with Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, sensorimotor work, and more — one-on-one, tailored to you, in the location you choose.
Who it's for
You've done months of weekly sessions and can't seem to get traction
One piece of your trauma work feels too big for a 50-minute hour
Something specific: insomnia, a wedding or surgery ahead, work stress, a relationship rut
Panic, persistent worry, angry outbursts, or sexual issues — trauma diagnosis not required
Teens and young adults on school breaks
The only regret people tell us about intensives is not doing one sooner.
Is it safe?
We only do EMDR when it's safe.
Every intensive starts with an assessment that tells us where to begin. Clients with more complex histories often start with an intensive focused on safety and resourcing.
How complex is your history?
The more layers, the more we build before we dig.
How open is your system?
Body, mind, and support network — we check all three.
What resources do you have?
Skills and people you can lean on between sessions.
How specific is the work?
One clear target moves faster than a whole history.
What it helps
Real change, tailored to you.
Three reasons people choose an intensive:
01
Fast relief
Simple PTSD averages 6–12 months of weekly therapy. Intensives can get the same results in days.
02
Smart investment
Life is short. Faster healing means more time for happiness and love.
03
Safety built in
A proven process lets even complex trauma shift quickly and safely.
04
Trauma & PTSD
You're not permanently broken. Don't let another day go by under the control of the past.
05
Couples & families
Focused time healing the whole house — reconnecting and breaking generational patterns.
06
Sexual trauma
Tired of hating your body or repeating bad relationships? This is what we specialize in.
How it works
Three steps, fully customized.
From assessment to follow-up, you're an active participant in every decision.
1
Pre-intensive
An assessment packet at home, then a two-hour session (online or in office) to clarify goals and design your intensive. You'll start your individualized workbook here.
2
Intensive days
Half days or full days, one to five days in a row — online, in our office, in your home, or at a retreat location of your choice. EMDR, IFS, EFT, sandtray, DBT and more.
3
Follow-up
A one-hour post-intensive to celebrate progress and plan what's next: back to your regular therapist, another intensive, or off to enjoy your relief.
Intensive questions
What people ask before they book.
Anything we haven't answered? Call 512-400-4790 — you'll talk to Nia, not a phone tree.
No. Panic, generalized anxiety, persistent worry, depression, angry outbursts, sexual issues, and more respond well. Intensives are also great for one specific thing — a big event coming up, insomnia, migraines, a relationship rut.
There's no honest one-size answer. It depends on how much you want to address, how many defenses you've needed over the years, and how you tolerate the work. What we do know: intensives dramatically shorten treatment — days versus months or years.
Half days: in our Austin or Round Rock office, or online. Full days: your Austin-area home, our offices, or online. Multi-day retreats: you book a retreat location you love in Central Texas or on the coast, and we come to you. Nia can help you find one.
Half-day and full-day rates, the retreat option, and our zero-interest payment plan are all on the Rates page. Pre-intensive sessions bill at your therapist's hourly rate.
Insurance doesn't cover intensive formats. We're out-of-network so treatment is built around your needs, not a payer's rules. We provide a superbill; with out-of-network benefits you may be reimbursed for part of the cost.
A 50% non-refundable deposit holds your dates; the balance is due on Day 1. Cancel two or more weeks ahead and your deposit moves to a new date. Within two weeks, the full package is charged — your therapist has blocked whole days for you.
Mounting evidence shows PTSD outcomes improve significantly when session frequency increases, and that intensive formats reduce dropout. Ask us for the studies.
Start with a conversation, not a booking.
Nia will hear what you're hoping for and pair you with an intensive therapist. Then a pre-intensive session decides the plan together.
We only do EMDR when it's safe — every intensive starts with one.

I've been doing weekly 50-minute sessions for several months, but I couldn't seem to get comfortable enough to make any real progress. After an intensive, I no longer worry about feeling overwhelmed. I'm confident that whatever feeling comes up, I'll be okay.
We're a nonprofit, so cost shouldn't be the reason you wait. Sliding-scale spots with licensed clinicians and supervised residents are part of how we work.
